Construction Industry Advisory Council (CIAC)

The Construction Industry Advisory Council (CIAC) was established on January 1, 1998, as the successor organization to the Professional Advisory and Development Board. The purpose of the CIAC is to support and promote the Texas A&M Construction Science Department and its students.

The CIAC has four types of memberships:

Hundreds of former students and construction industry leaders have supported the program in the past and their continued support as members is the foundation of the CIAC. We post their business cards in display cases outside the Department office. Corporate Members, or PARTNER CORPORATIONS, pay annual dues and have priority access to our graduates. A representative from each PARTNER CORPORATION sits on the Executive Committee. Emeritus Members are retired senior construction executives who have chosen to participate with the CIAC. Association Members are representatives of the many construction professional associations who support the program in so many ways.

An Executive Committee will guide the activities of the CIAC. Partner Corporations will be permitted to designate a company representative to serve on the Executive Committee. Other Executive Committee members will be selected from individual members and other industry leaders.

The CIAC will meet on campus twice each year and regional meetings will be held once a year in major metropolitan areas of the state. The on-campus meetings will be to transact routine business and to enjoy special agenda topics of professional interest. The spring on-campus meeting will coincide with the Departmental Annual Awards Banquet. The bylaws require that funds raised by the CIAC be expended pursuant to a budget developed by the Budget Subcommittee and approved by the Executive Committee. The Annual Reports are prepared to chart the history and accomplishments of the CIAC.

Partner Business Benefits:

  • The Partner Business representative will be a member of the Executive Committee of the CIAC and will be able to directly influence the strategic direction of the Construction Science program.
  • The Partner Business will receive "no cost" registration at the two annual Career Fairs.
  • Some of the funds raised by the CIAC will be used to address contemporary construction issues. Members will be able to set this research agenda and benefit from the results.
