Carol LaFayette makes collages of cinema, semiotics, and circuits. She is currently building a digital nervous system for a rural landscape - or, earth art without the bulldozers - for sensing and responding, in the field and in the art space. LaFayette's multiple "Everyone Van Gogh" is in collections at the Museum of Modern Art, New Museum of Contemporary Art, J. Paul Getty Museum, and Printed Matter. She exhibited "After the Hunt," an interactive installation with AREW Artists' Collaborative, at SIGGRAPH 2002. Her 2003 award-winning video "Skateboarding in Sarajevo" screened at 10 international film festivals. In 2005, her video collection "Texas' is an Adjective" screened on citywide billboards in L.A. Freewaves Experimental Media Arts Festival 2004, and on stadium screens at Victory Media Arts Plaza, Dallas, 2007. "Atta," a collaborative immersive installation, was exhibited at SIGGRAPH 2008.

Dr. McNamara's reserach focuses on the advancement of computer graphics and scientific visualization through novel approaches for optimizing an individual's experience when creating, viewing and interacting with virtual spaces. She investigates new ways to exploit knowledge of human visual perception to produce high quality computer graphics and animations more efficiently. She is also interested in eye-tracking, her current research combines eye-tracking with subtle image-space modulations to involuntarily draw an observer's gaze to specific image locations. Other interests include distance perception, geometric simplification and character design.
