Venice to Venice with Matthew Brown
Tuesday, August 21 - Friday, October 12, 2007, Center Gallery of the J. Wayne Stark Galleries;
With rigid angles and shapes, Colorado artist Matthew Brown illustrates scenes from his travels, often connecting lighting and space with color. This in-depth focus on experience is portrayed by eliminating “clutter,” as he puts it, in order to articulate his message to the viewer. Much in the way that a poet carefully considers every word that he pens, Brown focuses on deliberate placement of his lines and color combinations to convey the essence of a scene. Brown will hold a gallery talk on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 7:00 pm at the Center Gallery.

The exhibit will consist of 50 paintings that the Sumayas have collected over 35 years while traveling through Mexico, Central and South America.
