STRIKING 12 starring famed NYC Band GrooveLily
Tuesday, November 27, 7:30 PM | Wednesday, November 28, 7:30 PM | Thursday, November 29, 7:30 PM | Oakwood Ballroom at the College Station Hilton
There’s nothing like New York City during the holiday season. And last December, The Big Apple was all abuzz with this new musical by NYC-based pop-rock trio GrooveLily. Part pop concert, part musical theater, STRIKING 12 is a refreshingly alternative holiday show described by PlayBill.com as “the best musical you’ve never heard of.” A modern day take on Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Match Girl,” STRIKING 12 tells the story of a grumpy, overworked New Yorker who resolves to spend New Year’s Eve alone in his apartment. The evening springs to life through an eclectic GrooveLily score combining pop, rock, jazz and more!

Bob Sabiston: Artist in Residence - Fall 2007 Artist's Lecture
Tuesday, November 13, 2007, 12:30-1:30 PM Langford Center C-307, 5:30-7:00 PM Langford Center C-105;
Bob Sabiston is an independent filmmaker in Austin, TX. In recent years his interpolated rotoscoping technique--for which he wrote the software--has made waves in films like Richard Linklater’s “Waking Life”, "A Scanner Darkly", and Lars von Trier’s “The Five Obstructions.” Since 1997 he and his Austin based company Flat Black Films have created a string of rotoscoped short films, including “Grasshopper”, “Snack and Drink”, and “Roadhead,” which have helped popularize animation as a medium for documentaries. Bob's work stands out by bringing a painterly, hand-done approach to the traditionally mechanized and sterile world of computer graphics. He will be showing his new 22 min film, "The Even More Fun Trip", and talking about his venture into the gaming world with a Nintendo DS paint/animation program.
For more information, visit http://www.flatblackfilms.com/. The Artist in Residence program is supported by the Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts, the College of Architecture, and the Vizlab.
