One distinctive feature of the College is its commitment to improving the knowledge
base of the planning, design and construction professions through research.
The College of Architecture has one of the most active research programs in
the country. Awards of externally funded research in the College typically amount
to about $4-5.5 million per year. The diversity of the college is represented
in the wide range of research undertaken by faculty. Research activity is focused
upon the College's five formally organized research centers and laboratories,
highlighted by world famous programs in health care design and visualization.
College Research and
Interdisciplinary Council
Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the college’s research
initiative is the Research and Interdisciplinary Council (CRIC). Its mission
is to develop broad-based, interdisciplinary cultures in the College which
encourage
the creation, dissemination and application of knowledge in the planning, design
and construction of built and virtual environments.
Las Americas Research Network
The "Las Americas" Digital Research Network is a group of institutions
and individuals in North America, Central America and South America, dedicated
to collaborative research activities in the domains of: architecture, landscape
architecture, urban planning, construction sciences, and education in the previously
mentioned disciplines.
The Best of Texas: Annual ASLA Landscape
Architecture Award Winners
The ASLA Award Showcase is an online archive featuring entries for the annual
Landscape Architecture award presented by the Texas Chapter of the American
Society of Landscape Architects. The archive includes over 300 award-winning
projects dating back to 1986.
Hurricane Katrina
Resources
This web site advances the Hurricate Katrina initiative with a list of College
of Architecture faculty uniquely credentialed to address problems related to
this national disaster, supplemented by a expanding collection of white papers
showcasing how the faculty's uniquely deep and broad expertise can assist the
search for sustainable, just, economically viable and holistic solutions to
disaster preparedness and recovery.
