Sustainable Architecture

Long a leader in research in building energy efficiency,
building adaptation to climate, and other aspects of ecologically
sensitive architecture, the department provides students with advanced
knowledge of methods of sustainable architecture. Issues such as embodied
energy, carbon-balancing, green roofs, sustainable communities, and
design for recycling are presented in a variety of courses, including
design studios.
