1874 Episcopal Church Laser Scanned in Belton, Texas
January 2012

A team from the CHC, including Director Robert Warden, Lonnie Champagne, graduate student Angela Mellow, PhD student Carolina Manrique and visiting scholar researcher Alessia Bianco laser scanned a historic church in Belton, Texas. More information or to support the restoration of the historic church can be found through the 1874Church group.

CHC Director to speak at the 23rd International CIPA Symposium, September 12, 2011
Director Robert Warden will present on the topic of Practical Recording Issues at small and large scales in Maya Archaeology in Belize at the International CIPA Symposium this Monday, September 12, 2011 in Praque, Czech Republic.

La Belle Laser Scanned at Riverside Campus, College Station, Texas

A team from the CHC consisting of Director Robert Warden, Dr. Julie Rogers, Lonnie Champagne, graduate student Meredith Butler and recent graduate Jenny Whisenhunt worked in the hot Texas summer sun to complete the scanning. The subject was La Belle, a French ship which sunk in Matagorda Bay in 1686.

CHC Team Leaves Today for Alcatraz Island

Director Robert Warden, Dr. Julie Rogers, and long-time associate Lonnie Champagne are heading to San Francisco this evening to begin documentation of the historic prison on Alcatraz Island. Their work will include photographing and laser-scanning the structure.

ICCROM 4th Training Course on Conservation of Built Heritage, Rome, Italy
March 2-April 22, 2012

The course aims at serving a wide range of conservation practitioners and decision makers by placing technical issues within the broader conservation context in order to link them to planning and management concerns. The first part of the course will consist of an overview of the current practices of defining heritage, evolution of different concepts and key approaches currently used in built heritage conservation. The second part of the course will focus on the planning and management issues pertaining to the conservation decision making process. The third part of the course will focus more closely on technical issues including documentation, conditions assessments and various treatments plus interpretation and public access. Lecture: "World Heritage and Economic Development"

The lecture “World Heritage and Economic Development”, organized by Edinburgh World Heritage together with the City of Edinburgh Council and RSA Fellows MCICH Network, will take place on Tuesday 17 April, 6.00pm at the Royal College of Physicians in order to mark World Heritage Day and the 40th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. The lecture will look at how World Heritage can be used to promote and support economic regeneration, with contributions from two expert speakers and panel discussion with Professor Charles McKean, chairman of Edinburgh World Heritage, and Greg Ward, Head of Economic Development at the City of Edinburgh Council. US/ICOMOS 15th International Symposium
San Antonio, Texas
May 31-June2, 2012

The 2012 US/ICOMOS International Symposium will be an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Americas. In particular, attention will be brought to the five San Antonio Missions, including The Alamo. Collectively, the San Antonio Missions have “outstanding universal value” as defined by the guidelines for the World Heritage Sites. A World Heritage nomination has been written for the Missions, now on the US “tentative list” for consideration.

4th International Congress on Construction History - Call for Abstracts, Paris, France
