This project has three distinct components that are integrated
architecturally. The focus of the exterior and interior design of all the three buildings is to
convey to the public, that they are a place for children and their families
and
emphasizes superior quality, safety, patient focused care, family friendliness
and community responsiveness.
Component One is the design of a 750-850 space parking deck
located on the current surface parking lot.
Component Two is the connection to the adjoining medical office building
(MOB) on the site of Virginia Mechanical Institute(VMI building).
Component Three is the design of a full service children's hospital,
base building and interior design, on the site of the current VCUHS Children's
pavilion located on the Marshall Street between 10th and 11th streets.
This building which is between 150,000 to 250,000 sq.ft is linked to
the Main Hospital by a walkway.
