These two new paradigms target four main thrust areas.

First, enhancing the conventional academic paradigm, by (See Figure 3):

  • Teaching what is being practiced, and taking to practice what is being taught,
  • Researching what is being practiced, and taking to practice what is being researched,
  • Teaching what is being researched, while researching what is being taught and how, and
  • Transcending traditional formal disciplinary and interdisciplinary education at the Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral levels, through
  • Service learning programs for CARC, TAMU, U.S., and international students;
  • Continuing education programs for AEC and other professionals, government officials, and the community at large; and
  • Reaching out to the K-12 education, and the vocational and community college education
