Profile
Eric Dumbaugh is the coordinator the Graduate Certificate Program in
Transportation Planning, and serves as the faculty liaison for the LAUP
emphasis area in Transportation Planning, Policy, and Design. His research
examines strategies for integrating mobility, traffic safety, and community
livability into a holistic, context-based approach to roadway and community
design. Dr. Dumbaugh has authored more than 20 academic and professional
articles, including “Safe Streets, Livable Streets,” published
in the Journal of the American Planning Association, and “The Design
of Safe Urban Roadsides: An Empirical Analysis,” which received
the Transportation Research Board’s Award for Outstanding Paper
in Geometric Design in 2007. He has served as an invited speaker before
numerous professional groups, including the Federal Highway Administration,
the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Urban Land Institute,
and the Congress for the New Urbanism, among others.
