Professor Huang's areas of interest lie in evidence-based design methodology,
healthy community design, sustainable urban design, therapeutic garden
design, design communication, and design pedagogy. He is a member of
the American Institute of Certified Planners and a registered Landscape
Architect in the State of Texas.
Chang-Shan has written or co-authored several articles including “Design
with Nature for a Healthy Continuing-Care Retirement Community: A Case Study
for Crestview Retirement Community,” Landscape and Urban Planning; “A
Therapeutic Garden for Alzheimer’s Patients: A Research-Based, Interdisciplinary,
and Participatory Approach” Landscape and Urban Planning; “Open
