Dr. Sharkawy is professor and coordinator of master of science in land
development program where he teaches courses in the department of landscape
architecture and urban planning. He is an administrator responsible for
program management, with industry and alumni involvement, and assisting
with curriculum development teaching core courses, and serving as Senior
faculty for a graduate program in Real Estate Development. He is leading
in developing a vision, mission, and a strategic plan, in activating
alumni with an annual reunion and banquet, in formation of an Industry
Advisory Board, and in a collaborative a teaching initiative with five
Alumni participation as “adjunct faculty.” He has prepared
and implemented MSLD program redirection and curriculum reform plans—unanimously
supported at the program, department, college and university levels.
This includes a new course designation (LDEV), 12 new courses and a new
curriculum structure. Especially, he established the first Texas A&M
University two-degree program, the MSLD/MSCM (Construction Management)
option in 1992, developed policy guidelines for Texas A&M University-wide
adoption, and obtained approvals at the program, department and college
levels for two more interdisciplinary two-degree programs: MSLD/MArch
(Architecture), and MSLD/MUP (Urban Planning).
